Small Business Resources

  • The Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute helps companies, entrepreneurs, economic developers and communities improve their competitiveness through the application of science, technology and innovation. It is one of the most comprehensive university-based programs of business and industry assistance, technology commercialization and economic development in the nation.

  • Small Business Development Center (SBDC) can provide one-on-one counseling, workshops, classes, online assistance and connections to service providers, sources of capital and an index of federal, state, and local resources. There is an SBDC office at Valdosta State University.

  • Sowing Entrepreneur and Economic Development Success (SEEDS) Business Resource Center can provide up-to-date information for aspiring entrepreneurs, start-up businesses, existing businesses or individuals searching for custom market data, industry profiles, demographic reports, competitor information, targeted sales leads and much more.

  • Valdosta Chamber of Commerce serves as the unifying force and focal point for enhancing the economic, social, and cultural well-being of the regional community it serves. The Chamber seeks to accomplish its mission by being the voice for business within the community; by addressing economic, political and quality of life issues, and through a selective business plan to achieve attainable community goals.

  • Valdosta Small Emerging Business Program (VSEB) works to equip local small businesses with the necessary tools to effectively compete for government contracts; and to eliminate barriers and build capacity for local small businesses to conduct business with the City of Valdosta. The department coordinates and implements various small business programs to provide business opportunities and technical assistance to aid these firms in their growth and contribution to South Georgia's economy.

  • Georgia Power; Georgia Resource Center and Select Georgia are public-private partnership dedicated to business attraction and expansions.

  • Georgia Workforce Development provides employment services, workforce data and employment law information.

  • Georgia Work Ready improves the job training and marketability of Georgia’s workforce and drive-future economic growth for the State of Georgia. It is the only initiative of its kind to be conducted through a partnership between a state government and state chamber of commerce, ensuring that companies can more reliably match the right people with the right jobs. Work Ready is based on a skills assessment and certification for job seekers and a job profiling system for businesses. By identifying both the needs of business and the available skills of Georgia’s workforce, the state can more effectively generate the right talent for the right jobs.

  • Go Build Georgia is a campaign designed to educate young people on the value of learning a trade, dispel their misconceptions about the skilled trade industry and inspire them to consider building a career as a skilled tradesman. Go Build aims to provide better opportunities for craft tradesmen, more highly skilled employees for business and enhanced economic development for Georgia and the nation.
